How to use freezer bags for storing soups?


1、Cool the Soup

Let the soup cool to room temperature before pouring it into bags to avoid condensation and ice crystals. For faster cooling, place the pot in an ice bath.


2、Leave Space for Expansion

Liquids expand when frozen, so fill bags only ¾ full to prevent bursting.


Remove Excess Air

Squeeze out as much air as possible before sealing to prevent freezer burn.

3、Lay Flat for Freezing

Place sealed bags flat on a baking sheet in the freezer. Once frozen, they can be stacked to save space.


4、Label & Date

Write the type of soup and freezing date (soups last 2–3 months in the freezer).


5、Thaw Safely

Thaw in the refrigerator overnight or submerge the sealed bag in cold water (change water every 30 mins).

Reheat in a pot on the stove or transfer to a microwave-safe container.

Freezer-Safe Containers (best for frequent reheating).

Silicone Souper Cubes (portion-controlled freezing).


Avoid:

Overfilling bags.

Using thin or non-freezer bags (risk of leaks).
